State Fair

we went with my family to the state fair yesterday. the kids were sooo excited. drew's favorite was probably the pony rides and the merry-go-round. we did so much stuff, the fair is huge! we ate really greasy food(yummy at first, then i felt like puking)and saw a cool show with live brown bears. i am amazed at how many farm animals are there. drew liked those too. aiden's favorite, as well as mine, was the big yellow slide. i wish there was one set up by my house. it's so fun!!! the family decided to get some funnel cake, but the group got split up and my mom bought 3 and my sister bought 2(not knowing the other had bought any)and there is definitely a cap on how much funnel cake one can eat. we all reached ours!!! at the end of the day we were all exhausted and dirty (wow were we dirty) but it was worth it. Thanks family, for a great day! i love you guys!

remembering...

in Sandy there is a field of flags. "healing field" they've been putting it up every year to honor the victims of sept. 11th. it's amazing to see all the flags together, but more sobering is that each flag represents a person killed in the 9-11 attacks. there are 3,031 flags. for more info on it click here it is a really cool thing that the people at colonial flags have put together.

maybe?????

aiden has been sleeping in our guest bedroom, by his request!
we were surprised to hear this because we were thinking about getting the boys bunk beds for their room. so the boys have their own rooms now. i thought since we wanted to re-do the guest bedroom anyway, we could let aiden help us pick out his color and decor. he loved this in the land of nod catalog. i saw this a while ago on the Graham & Brown website. i love it. i would do just one wall. we're still deciding... i'll let you know how his new room turns out!

food and wine festival...

for the first time we went to the food and wine festival at sundance. it was so delicious! the weather was perfect... warm and a bit overcast, it even rained for a bit. i was glad i brought my umbrella. i wish i took pics of the food, everything was beautiful and yummy! i will say i felt pretty bloated for the rest of the day. two hours of eating, even small portions, is a lot!!! i would do it again though, i'm glad it's only once a year for that reason!

happy birthday dawn & mom

we met up in salt lake for dinner with my family for my mom and sister's b-day! despite a few of us feeling under the weather, we had a great time! after dinner my sis, mom and i went and saw a chick flick. it was fun hangin' with just the girls! love you guys!

my anniversary surprise!!!

yes, my sweet husband sent me a text the night before our anniversary while he was at work saying." you might want to pack a suitcase... maybe pack for warm or cold weather" also "maybe get the tent together and pack a sleeping bag and some bug repellent."
the second part was to throw me off. he wakes me up at 6am saying it was time to go. What? seriously? so of course i go along with it cause i know he's up to something ...and yes, i'm excited to see what it is. we head up the freeway and then take the exit to the airport. I was so excited, but nervous... where are we going??? turns out SAN FRANCISCO!!!! YEAH!!! dan worked so hard planning this surprise. he had several of my friends in on it and he got all my yoga classes covered and arranged my mom to come down to stay with the boys. it was so amazing, to say the least! we had a wonderful time. I feel very lucky. i love you dan, thank you for the past 7 wonderful years. i have loved every moment and can't wait to see what the future will bring! Happy Anniversary babe!
we were very fortunate to stay a night at Cavallo Point. an amazing resort right next to the golden gate bridge. thank you denise!!! we got to see Wicked... loved it!
i was so happy to get to spend time with our friends mark and kelly, we love you guys. thanks for everything!
several of our pics are from this piont of view. i love it.

cool summer nights

We took the boys up to summer theatre at sundance. We ate at the Grill Room before we went up the hill to the ampitheatre. YUMMY! That was a treat since I never get to eat up there. It was so fun to snuggle up in blankets and watch the play under the stars. The boys were great for the first half. Once the lights came up during intermission Drew was pretty wound up. But ot was a fun family date!!!

Drew... post haircut

Neither of my boys have experienced a "real" haircut. I've always been their barber. I wasn't sure what I was going for with Drew's hair but I think it turned out pretty great. He looks so much like Dan's baby pics with shorter hair. I think it suits him, even with the uneven part in the front!!!

cool treats

the boys eating ice cream cones... a summer favorite!

4th of july festivities...

we started out the day much earlier than usual to see the hot air balloons take off. i think we should make it a tradition. the kids loved it. dan and i were cranky, i mean dan was, but not for long. we enjoyed a yummy breakfast picnic watching the balloons float all around us. after we got back i had to go teach a yoga class. we practiced outside, it was a beautiful morning!!! later our families came over to play and have a bbq. my mom brought a volleyball net, which dan put together, yes again cranky, but to give him credit it looked like a pain in the a**. it was fun seeing my sis and dan get competitive, and i'm sure it was funny watching me play in a dress. ha ha. we played with water balloons, did tons of sparklers and finished off the night with fireworks!!!

fun at the carnival!
